Wall Insulation

Insulating the exterior walls of your home is an essential step you can take to increase your home’s energy efficiency. Unlike the attic and crawl space, which are usually accessible, the wall cavities of an existing home are inaccessible, making insulating them more of a challenge. That does not meant that you can’t insulate the walls in an existing home, however. On the contrary, at SBI we employ some innovative ways to install insulation in your walls, wrapping your home with a shield of warmth.

Drill & Fill
One way we retrofit a house with wall insulation is by drilling a hole in the wall, usually from the outside and spraying in either densely packed borate cellulose insulation or Air Krete foam insulation. Once we have finished spraying insulation into each section of wall cavity, we plug and patch each hole.

Removing Siding
A more cosmetically seamless way we insulate outside walls is by removing one or two strips of siding around a house and spraying insulation through holes we cut in the exterior sheathing or backer boards into the wall cavity. Once the siding is replaced, no one will be able to tell you just had your walls insulated. (Please note, this option is not available for homes with T1-11 siding.)

Insulating Brick Exterior Walls
SBI utilizes a unique method to insulate walls with brick exteriors. We drill small three-quarter-inch holes in the mortar joints between bricks and spray Air Krete foam insulation into the wall cavity. We then take a sample of your mortar and color-match it before patching your mortar holes.

Insulating your walls will prevent draftiness and add a level of comfort to your home. If our methods appeal to you, don’t hesitate to contact us to set up a consultation.
